Physical servers to maintain

A 145-employee civil litigation defense firm was operating ProLaw, its primary case management and billing platform, on aging on-premises infrastructure that had reached the end of its viable life. Case files, financial records, billing data, and back-office operations all ran on servers that were no longer reliable, no longer scalable, and no longer cost-effective to maintain.

The Problem

The infrastructure was fractured. Data lived across disconnected servers with no unified architecture. Performance degraded under load. Storage was constrained. Every time the firm grew, the infrastructure became a limiting factor rather than a foundation.

The Challenge

On-premises ProLaw environments carry significant migration complexity. The front-office and back-office components of the platform depend on precise configuration, stable connectivity, and low-latency access to case and financial data. A failed or poorly planned migration does not just create downtime. It creates billing gaps, data integrity risk, and operational disruption across every practice group in the firm.

What Allnext Legal Built

Allnext Legal designed and executed a full Microsoft Azure cloud migration encompassing every component of the firm's ProLaw environment and the infrastructure supporting it. The scope included ProLaw front-office and back-office, all active and archived case files, financial records, billing data, and the network architecture required to connect 145 users to the platform without performance degradation. Case files, billing records, and financial data were migrated to Azure Files, providing centralized, redundant, and scalable storage with enterprise-grade access controls. ProLaw's application layer was deployed on Azure virtual infrastructure sized and configured for the firm's workload, with 24/7 architecture management and monitoring managed by Allnext Legal. To eliminate the latency and security limitations of remote desktop access, Allnext Legal implemented SD-WAN for cloud connectivity. Users connect directly to the Azure environment through an optimized, secure network layer. No RDP. No performance compromise. The experience is indistinguishable from local access.

What the Firm Gained

ProLaw now runs at 99.99% reliability and availability. Attorneys and staff access the platform at full performance from any location. Case files, billing records, and financial data are stored in a unified, redundant Azure environment with no storage ceiling and no single point of failure. Infrastructure spending decreased. The firm is no longer maintaining physical servers, managing hardware refresh cycles, or absorbing the hidden costs of on-premises operations. The Azure environment scales with the firm rather than constraining it. Performance improved across every function. Time entry, case management, billing runs, and financial reporting all operate faster and more reliably than they did on the previous infrastructure.

Why Partner with Allnext Legal

Most technology firms can migrate infrastructure. Very few understand how a civil litigation defense firm actually operates, what ProLaw requires to run correctly in a cloud environment, and what the consequences of a poorly executed migration look like in practice. Allnext Legal brings direct legal IT experience to every engagement. This migration was designed by a team that works inside law firms, understands the operational dependencies of legal software, and manages the full Azure environment after go-live.
